Company Background

Cheffields has been servicing the hospitality industry since 2001 and are a leading supplier to restaurants, hotels, school camps and Aged Care in Victoria. The owners, Andrew and Kristi Smith, both qualified chefs, have been part of the food industry since they commenced their cooking careers. From working in hotels with onsite butcheries to high quality steakhouses, their passion for quality meat led them to forge Cheffields into what it is today.

Business/Systems Issues

With a background gained from operating a commercial beef farm, Andrew and Kristi had firsthand experience with the challenges faced to bring top quality meat to market.

The main issue they encountered in growing the business, (a wholesale business, a local hotel, a restaurant and in future a retail store) was that their existing system was running out of capacity. This resulted in delays in completing invoices due to system crashes, delays in shipping out products and a lack of inventory control, all of which prevented business growth. This coupled with the need for real time management reporting, led them to look for a new solution that could solve these issues and be able to handle an interface to the MobileEzy application for sales orders. Cheffields also wanted to implement a system that had the ability to handle payroll and that could grow with the business.

Solution

Microsoft Dynamics NAV provided Cheffields with a solution that supported their needs and could respond to their growth. Furthermore, if they decide to add other Microsoft products such as POS and CRM at a later date they knew integration would be quick and easy.

Now up and running with a very smooth implementation Kristi summarised with, “the functionality delivered by NAV brilliantly suits our current and future system requirements in the familiar Microsoft environment which makes training and ease of use so possible.
